A fun and nurturing environment where children learn the basic elements of ballet in a creative and imaginative way. Various music, scarf play and other props are used to explore creative movement. There is a short introduction to the 'ballet barre'. Each winter and spring term ends with a production with the Ballet I class included. Taught by Josie LaRiccia and Deborah Murray.

Fall Semester resumes Thursday, September 16.
Ballet I (Ages 6-8) - Thursday @ 5:00-6:00 pm.
An introduction to the ballet class with emphasis on alignment and placement of the growing body and early performance ability. Taught by Deborah Murray, with a patience and caring for children. This class focuses on the discipline of dance with a fun element. Each winter and spring term ends with a production performed by both Pre-Ballet and Ballet I classes combined. Taught by Deborah Murray and Josie LaRiccia.
Ballet II (Ages 8 1/2-10) - Thursday @ 6:00-7:00 pm.
A continuation of Ballet I which involves more barre exercises and increasing each child's ballet vocabulary and creative expression. Taught by Deborah Murray and Josie LaRiccia.
Fall Semester resumes Saturday, September 18.
Ballet I & II (Ages 7-12) - Saturday @ 11:00 am -12:00 pm.
Ballet I & II (combined ages) will focus on developing the basics of great ballet training. Students will be able to master the fundamental understanding of the Vaganova syllabus (year one), with an emphasis on musicality and performance. Class structure is fun but focused with performance opportunities throughout the year. Taught by Michael Buoni.

This class will focus on building strength, increasing turnout and extension. Each class begins with a barre followed by across-the-floor moves such as leaps and turns as well as center floor combinations. Taught by Michael Buoni.

Also known as Escuela Bolera from the 18th & 19th centuries. This dance is imbued with the Iberian temperament making it uniquely Spanish. The steps (pasos) and combinations of steps (compuestos) are coordinated with the playing of castanets. Class consists of a ballet barre warm-up, center warm-up, castanet exercises, curso exercises for technique and choreography. The preservation of the escuela bolera dances is due largely to several generations of the Pericet family from Madrid. Taught by Josie LaRiccia.

A regional dance from Southern Spain developed by the gypsies and andalusians characterized by various heelwork rhythms and expressive lyrical arms which demonstrates the passionate Spanish temperament. Class consists of braceo (arm and hand movements), marcajes (marking steps), zapateo (heelwork), palmas (hand-clapping) and castanets. Focus is on proper body line to capture the beauty and essence of Spanish character. Taught by Josie LaRiccia.

For body and soul ... learn this captivating dance from the Middle East. Enrich your cultural knowledge. Whether you want to belly dance like Shakira, perform professionally, or just have fun and get in shape, this is the place for you to start. The beginner class presents the basic movements and articulations of the hip, chest and arms along with simple improvisational choreographies. The intermediate class will focus on more complex choreography and layering movements for more precise interpretation of the music. An introduction and continuation of props such as veil, cane and zils. All body types and ages welcome. Coin belts, hip wraps and zils are sold at the studio. Taught by Nahara.

Thursday Night Fever is here with Angel! He's back on the dance floor and totally energized and ready to teach you how to do the hustle! And don't worry at the nightclubs about having enough room on the dance floor. You'll be so good after this class that everyone will be making room to watch you! This class will focus on the basic hustle steps, partnering and styling. More advanced students will focus on turns and lifts. Absolute Beginners - Alternate Wednesdays @ 8:00-9:00 pm.
No partner necessary! Born in the West Indies, stylized by the gauchos of Argentina, simmered in the brothels of Buenos Aires, brought to a boil in the elegant salons of Paris, the Tango is considered a "dancer's dance." This class will focus on the essence of Tango and the very basics of the dance, balance and walking. Students learn the forward step, back step, side step, and turns in place (pivot). Students also learn the basic turns, leading to ochos and molinetes, paradas (stops), la cruzada (the cross). Improvisation and musicality are the mainstay of the class, as it is in Tango. Taught by Josie LaRiccia, Laxmi Parida and Guest Artists.

All Levels - Alternate Wednesdays @ 8:00-10:00 pm. It's 's poetry in motion! Taught in both open and close embrace. Class warm-up consists of a walking exercise with a partner and a warm-up dance. Each week covers an explanation of execution basic to more advanced steps: the basic 6 and 8 count figure, cruzada, ocho, giro/molinete, sacada, parada, gancho, mordita, lapis, arrastre, volcada, colgada and more. Musicality (dancing to the emotion and speed of the music) is stressed. Singles and couples welcome. Taught by Laxmi Parida. Price: $15 Drop-In Class.

Zumba is a dance aerobics class inspired by latin rhythms and other international styles of music. You don't have to be a great dancer. Just follow the moves and get into the groove. A Good Beginning That Never Ends! Kindermusik is an exciting and wonderful program of musical enrichment for children between the ages of Birth to 7. Village Class is a nurturing environment where families can meet other parents with children. Babies learn about themselves and the world through music, instruments, colors and shapes. Parents enjoy a great bonding experience with their child and discover wonderful insights into their baby's unique development. Our Time Class is a safe environment for the toddler (1-1/2 to 3 years of age) on the move. Children are introduced to socialization and group sharing with other parents and toddlers together. Special motor activities challenge your toddler's awareness and coordination. Imitation and creative movement introduce new expressions. And lots of singing for everyone! Growing Class is for the 3-1/2 to 5 year old. This class helps to further socialization and independent participation. We explore more fascinating music where children discover their voice! Some craft-making involved. Young Child Class is for the 5-7 year old. This class help children develop a confident, joyful singing and speaking voice, introduces them to note reading and writing, playing a variety of percussion instruments, the glockenspiel, recorder and 2-string dulcimer. Children develop attentive listening skills and experience ensemble building in a nurturing environment with no pressure of performance. This class is a bridge to formal one-on-one music lessons.
